Cleaning of boats, boards and floating objects

We remind you that we must thoroughly clean our boats, boards, and floating objects when we have used them on another lake or if visitors bring their own equipment.  The goal is to preserve the quality of our lake Millette and the integrity of our shorelines by preventing the introduction and spread of invasive alien species from one lake to another. An invasive alien species (IAS) is a plant, animal, or micro-organism (virus, bacterium, or fungus) introduced outside its natural range. Its establishment or spread can pose a threat to our lake, our environment and those who live here.  It sometimes becomes very difficult, if not impossible as with Eurasian watermilfoil, to get rid of these intruders.  Thus, carefully cleaning boats and electric motors of any soil, leaves, plants, or roots before they are launched minimizes the risk of contamination from one lake to another. The same applies to canoes, kayaks, paddleboards or other floating objects.  Prevention is all our responsibility!
